The Kersen''s

Book Review by: Hector Perrotta

Original Author: Hector Perrotta

The author of the novel plays with fictitious personages. He introduces them into reality.  In this way, is created
a suspenseful climax which pushes the reader continuing to read the book until the end.    This story tells us about a Sweden Young who  come to the Argentinean Patagonia to spend his vacations. The action begins in 2001 year, when only by chance, he discovers a small town lost in the mountains and forest.      Due to a meteorological terrific problem, these people were obliged to abandon their land, and sail from extreme North of Scandinavian to the south. In this way they reached the Argentinean Patagonia.  It happened in the year 1000 AC.  They were Vikings Christianized.   Near the mountains, the forest was big one and they were surrounded by lakes and rivers It gave the opportunity to built new ships and explore the whole region by earth and water. Of course, they reached South America five hundred years from Colon and became in one of the “Pre-Columbian” civilization.    The Sweden Young live there one o the most beautiful times in his life. He falls in love with a blonde young lady, who corresponding on his love. Here, is the conflict for him: Come back to Sweden or remain there in those solitary and remote lands. On the other hand, he was descendent from the Vikings, too. A beautiful Ninfa who had been his wife on a previous life protect him every moment.  But he never would discover anything about it.    This situation set up a loving triangle which has no waste. The young lady began to fell jealous to the spirit.      The old and small town had been progressing little by little. They live far away to the progress; because they regarded the modernization bring them corruption. Despite this they copied many thing from the big cities and improved their way of living.   It was very curious; they lived without the help of the government. They use to work very hard. It was the way to get their food. The system was completely cooperative.  This means that, if the town need to build a new hospital; the whole community contribute with their work to raise the building.     There did not use money to exchange their products, the government of the town, (The council of the  elder men),  used to print their own money and distribute among he inhabitants according his jobs.  Another curious situation was the child education. The mothers lost the wrights of the babes and only recover it, when the kid got the adolescence.   Near the zone, had oil and gas field, but hey had preferred to produce their own gas methane and sell It to the neighbour big town. This situation brought heavy problem with the national authorities.  It is one of the big conflicts of he novel. Who will be the winner on this battle?   The author integrates in this   story, the fiction tied to the fantasy.  He juts the raising of the child ness, the education, the homosexuality. The love and the sex in the natural status lived by these people.  Also told us about some historic facts an argentines costumes. Compare the ethnic group that live in the area   He casually introduces historical facts and Argentine customs and compares and contrasts the different ethnic groups living there  with today’s society from  big cities, which are characterised by excessive consumerism and corruption.     All these things motivate the readers to read on with enthusiasm and curiosity. The ending is really impressive. It is marked by the author’s resourcefulness to reach a brilliant and unpredictable outcome.
