The Secrets of Doctor Tavererner

Book Review by: CatherineGallagher

Original Authors: Dion Fortune; (Violet Mary Firth); Gareth Knight (Introduction)
Dr. Taverner is a physical doctor and psychologist who is also an occultist, i.e., one who practices the higher psychology,
which takes account of the more mysterious, mystical, and spiritual side of life.
Many people's problems that seem to be madness, incompetence, or a manifestation of physical illness are, in truth, manifestations of a deeper causes, which in olden times were called hauntings, possessions,
black witchcraft, or other stranger names. These the good Doctor can often heal, and almost always can explain and change for the better.
In this book there are eleven (11) short stories displaying various aspects of occult or magical experience with the Power used in healing, freeing and uniting people in harmony, told through the eyes of his
somewhat skeptical assistant.
The book has a foreword that explains what occultism is, what such a fraternity is and does, and other matters pertinent to the story. There is also an afterword which introduces one to Dion Fortune's group.
