It is very conceivable that anyone who reads or has read 1984 would be disturbed and perplexed by the subject of the book.
It exemplifies world dictatorship in its strongest form. The denial of all human rights, the propaganda, the scrutiny of unseen faces, and the forced dogma of the rules and laws that can not be defied, all of which are presented as under the benevolent face of an utopist society for the betterment of all humankind. This totalitarian society was lead by Big Brother. Yet, the author states in the book that even the thoughts of people were monitored as it shows in the following quote.
“Thought crime was not a thing that could be concealed forever. You might dodge successfully for awhile, even for years, but sooner or later, they were bound to get you.”
The generalized slogan of Big Brother was as follows.
“War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.”
George Orwell wrote this novel in 1948 and by transposing the last two numbers of the year, he created the title 1984. In view, the year of 1984 has come and gone without such a horrific mass rule happening to our world during that year. Yet is the world really that far away from such a possibility? If one has the courage to examine the politics of many different countries, you would have to conclude that the frightening society of 1984 is truly not that much fiction.
