- Father Donald Callahan, the Old Fella, suggests they get help from gunslingerssighted coming from the west.
- On the morning of the attack, Eddie Dean destroys Andy who actually serves the Wolves.
- Roland tells the traitor Ben Slightman that he will keep his secret and let him live out of respect for Jake who has formed a friendship with Ben Slightman’s son if Slightman does not hinder them.
- Roland’s ka-tet destroys the Wolves, robots serving those who are attempting to bring down the Dark Tower, with the help of the Sisters of Oriza.
Father Callahan of Salem’s Lot
- Donald Callahan, formerly of Earth reveals he has Black Thirteen, which can be used to travel to other worlds.
- Callahan tells Roland’s ka-tet of running from Salem’s Lot, being hunted by low men, hunting vampires, finding secret highways to other worlds and finally how he died and ended up in Mid-World.
- Roland later finds a book written by Stephen King about Callahan and his experiences with vampires in Salem’s Lot.
The Rose
- Jake Chambers, Eddie Dean and Oy goes todash and travels back to New York of 1977.
- Jake and Eddie find out that Enrico Balazar is trying to force Calvin Tower, owner of a bookshop named The Manhattan Restaurant of the Mind, to sell the vacant lot where the rose lies.
- Roland and his ka-tet realizes that the rose and the Dark Tower is under threat, and they must find a way back to New York to save it.
- Eddie Dean travels to New York, saves Calvin Tower from Enrico Balazar’s thugs and gets him to leave New York.
Mia, Mother in High Speech
- Roland worries about Mia, a secret new persona of Susannah Dean’s, which was created to protect the demon-child she carries.
- Roland tells Eddie of Susannah’s condition and to hide this knowledge even from Susannah.
- Jake realizes the secret Roland and Eddie is keeping and demands they tell Susannah.
- Roland agrees but before they do, Susannah reveals she already knows.
- The companions decide to wait until after their battle with the Wolves to decide what is to be done.
- Immediately after defeating the Wolves, Mia disappears with Black Thirteen to give birth to her demon-child and prevent Roland’s group from following her.
Roland Deschain, the Line of Eld, Gilead
- Roland dreams of Jericho Hill, where the Horn of Eld was lost and his best friend Cuthbert Allgood was killed.
- Roland realizes that he has arthritis and keeps his condition a secret from his ka-tet.
