Pettersson's first book in the Zodiac series is unique from a fantasy standpoint, with the setting and premise hooking the
reader if you have ever visited Las Vegas, Nevada. Joanna, the main character and heroine of the novel causes the reader to wonder at the beginning of the novel if she strong enough to withstand the challenges presented, and we are piqued enough to looking forward to her growth and
development as a superhero persona.
I believed this book to be fairly enjoyable because it was written in the jargon and lingo easy for the average reader to relate to without any "elvish" or science-fictional hard-to-pronounce words and phrases. What also makes this novel interesting is being
introduced lightly to many characters and knowing that although we have not yet been familiarized with their history and backgrounds one hundred percent; we will be introduced to their deeper development in the future novels of the series. I think this was a great idea of Pettersson's to hook and pull readers into the later novels.
The book is very fun because it incorporates superheroism into real-life and gives the notion that we can be surrounded by superheros at any given time in any major city.
I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Although it was a longer novel over four hundred pages, it was very easy to become involved in and I had no problem cruising along until I had the book finished in a matter of hours.
