In this novel, for many thousands of years mankind had survived in comfortable leisure behind the barrier. In miniature
form, men had evolved a physiology of sorts as well as a new philosophy of contemplation and peace.
A character named 'Modyun' was to be the first to enlarge his body to the massive
proportions of past times and then to leave and try to explore the world where half-men half-animal had established their realms. Modyun's goal was to take him through darkness and into an uncertain future--a future that humanity might find impossible to live in.
