Book Review   by:Pokerman     Original Author: Leo Frankowski

The Cross-Time Enginneer series by Leo Frankowski is a 5 book series that finds a Twentieth century Polishman transported back to 13th century Poland ten years before the Mongol invasion! Conrad Stargard the hero of the series is a bit of a womanizer who in these books does many things that some women could find offensive. The Males of our society I think would definitely enjoy this series, Conrad institutes many things men would find enjoyable including opening many Pink Dragon inns (aka playboy inns) where topless women serve the now large money making society. Conrad knowing he has only ten years to get Poland ready to combat the Mongols does many things to prepare for them. Conrad over these series of books,The Cross-Time Engineer,The High Tech Knight, The Radiant Warrior, The Flying Warlord, Lord Conrad's Lady institutes many changes into this society. He at first is met by resistance but is helped by his friendship with a powerful Baron and the King of Poland, over the course of the years he opens schools, starts an army, builds airplanes! and starts a money system. Conrad does encounter problems during the whole ten years he has an inquistion by the church hanging over his head, plus the whole knights templar organaiztion is out to kill him for his freeing of slaves that they intented to sell most of which were children. I really enjoyed these five books I do not want to go further into detail in that it might ruin the enjoyment you would receive from reading these books. The five books our a nice easy read and for those who enjoy tome travel books with a historical bent these books our for you.
