Greg Bear
In many ways Greg Bear is one of the most frightening writers on the planet. Greg Bear is a thinking man''s science fiction writer who writes incredibly fantastic stories that are supported by meticulous research.

In Vitals, research Scientist Dr. Hal Cousins is looking for a cure for old age. Hal almost finds the answer on the floor of the Pacific Ocean, but his pilot of the exploratory submarine goes beserk and attempts to kill him. Hal survives and finds that five of fellow scientists (including his brother) involved in similar fields of research are killed within a week of each other.

From there Hal is forced into hiding as he tries to unravel a mystery that is both sinister and intriguing.

With a plot supported by historical and scientific research Vitals takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of twists and turns that gives new meaning to the phrase "conspiracy theory."

This is a well written, excellently researched thriller novel made all the more frightening by the sheer possibility of what Greg Bear describes. I highly recommend it
