Cure for the Common Life: Living in Your Sweet Spot

Book Review by: Risa Kriegel Coscia

Original Author: Max Lucado
God is the ultimate career counselor in Cure for the Common Life:Living in Your Sweet Spot . The premise of this remarkable
book is that God has given everyone (even atheists) talents and abilities. He wants us to figure out what they are and start using them to serve others. Whether you realize it or not, we all have a sweet spot. The author, Max Lucado is determined to help you find yours. Are you dissatisfied with your job? Have you fallen off the corporate ladder? Are you a student or an empty nester? If your answer is yes to any of the above questions, you are sure to enjoy reading this inspirational book.
The first half of Cure for the Common Life:Living in Your Sweet Spot offers the reader good, practical advice. Much of the guidance in this book comes directly from the Bible. This isn’t surprising when you consider that the author is also an ordained minister. The second half of the book provides the reader with assessments to help you evaluate your strengths. Your talents should be your compass for finding an appropriate career. Any ideas of doing otherwise should be abandoned as pure foolishness.
This book will prove beneficial to both college students and midlife career changers. It is expertly written and will appeal most strongly to Christian readers. It has appeared repeatedly on the best sellers list for Publishers Weekly in the religion hardcover category. The quality of Max Lucado’s writing is excellent. Sales aren’t likely to slow down any time soon.

    Need a secular version

The author has no concern for secular readers. Readers books by Shri Aurobindo and you find that there is no religious bias in his books

    No Religious Bias

I'm glad there is no religious bias views in this book. I was turned off when I saw the mention of God so many times. Regards, Nicole from adjustable beds
