Rich Dad Poor Dad

Book Review by: Abukay

Original Authors: Robert T. Kiyosaki; Sharon L. Lechter, CPA
The book Rich Dad Poor Dad has provided the necessary paradigm shift in the lives of many people from all walks of life.
It does not matter if you are a small business owner or an employee. It does not matter if you are a white collar worker or a blue collar worker. Neither does race, gender and socio-economic background matter.
The book is about a tale of two fathers – his biological father which is his “poor dad” and one is his best friend’s father, his “rich dad.” These two people are very much polarized in their actions and in their beliefs. The poor dad took the path of employment and thought that money was the root of all evil. The rich dad took the path of entrepreneurship and thought that the lack of money was the root of all evil.
Growing up with two mentors to learn from, Robert was able to discover at a very young age what takes people a whole lifetime to discover. He discovered how to make money work for you instead of you working for it. He followed his rich dad more and more and was able to gain financial independence at the age of 47.
Robert Kiyosaki explains things in a very simple language that people could understand and in an anecdotal form that people could relate to. It is in stark contrast to many personal finance books written by financial gurus and by the so called “experts.” These books often revolve around living below your means and complicated investment schemes.
The book is not a “how to” book that gives you a step by step guide towards building wealth and securing your financial future. Rather, it is a book that challenges you to use the world’s most powerful computer, the human mind, to think of ways and means to achieve financial success and live your dreams.
