ZINDAGI KO KAISE KAHEN WAH! (Shandar Jeevan Ke Saat Nuskhe)

Book Review by: VijaiKSharma

Original Author: Dr. Satish Batra
Every human being wants to lead a peaceful and enjoyable life, continuously. But
in most of the cases, it does not happen so. However, there are thoughts and actions, which can help us in this respect. The present book written in Hindi language by a management expert with long teaching experience, has certain quotations, sayings and words in English also. The ways and means for making life happier are covered in nine Chapters, with the ninth Chapter being the summary of all the Chapters. The book has number of examples, mainly from the Indian field, along with 45 cartoons and figures. Reference is also drawn to Gita at various places in the book. Our life is a valuable gift of God to us. Hence it must be a pleasant one, even if short. The book gives seven prescriptions, which we should examine, weigh and adopt in our life. Chapter one discusses the way we look at living of our life. Essence of life depends on, how we live our life. As per Chapter two, our aims, objectives and dreams should be absolutely clear. For our life we should state our vision, mission and values. For our dreams we should first think, and then take necessary actions. Chapter three discusses about determination and discipline for achievements. More of perspiration and less of inspiration is required for success. Considering our potential, we should continue to work, optimize our efforts, and learn from mistakes. In Chapter four, for any work in life, stress is on planning.  We should not worry, remain calm and think, howsoever adverse be the situation, try for seemingly difficult things, use common sense and plan from practical point of view. Chapter five talks about organizing ability for success, happiness and pleasure. We should prepare for the rainy day. We must prepare a plan, and work and organize accordingly. As per Chapter six, time is of essence in all walks of life. We must divide our work, as per the urgency and requirements, avoid wastages of time, and control, and take out time for important works. Time once lost can’t be regained. When required, we should be bold enough to say no also. We should take interest in our work, and think for means of quick disposal. Chapter seven discusses effective communication. What is said should be understood correctly, by the other person. Silence is also a communication. For right communication, good environment and sweet words are better. Body language conveys many things which spoken words may not communicate. We must think before speaking and that too at the appropriate time. We should also be a good listener. Our communication must be correct, clear and complete. We should also seek a feedback.   Summarizing, we should change our way of looking at the things, and try to make the best use of the situations. Various points covered in the book can help us, to make our life a pleasant one. We should accept those things which we can’t change, and change them if we can and want to change and have the wisdom of differentiating between them. This will lead us to a path free of fear and worry, onto a fresh, peaceful and progressive environment. It is a very pleasing, interesting and useful book. Once started one would like to complete it, and read it again for implementation. A must read book for every person.
