This is one of the Hazelden Meditations series. Hazelden is an independent foundation which prints materials, in part, to
support the goals of the 12-Step philosophy and practice -- in this case specifically the Alcoholics Anonysmous (AA) program. There are 366 pages devoted to daily readings. Each is devoted to one specific date. At the top of the page is the AA Thought for the Day. This is followed by a
Meditation for the Day. At the bottom of the page is a short prayer, to help one with attaining and keeping a spiritual focus. These thoughts, prayers, and meditations are designed to help a person achieve sobriety, keep it, and begin or continue the long spiritual climb that is the gift and challenge of any 12-Step journey.
At the end of the book, there are lists of the 12 Steps of
Alcoholics Anonymous. The Serenity Prayer is also included at the end of the year's daily readings. An excellent index by subject (with subheadings) follows that material. At the very end of the book is an explanation of the Hazelden Foundation, its mission and location.
