The blind person of Jericó (
Bartimeo) is a man who lives in the dark (Marcos 10, 46-52), with many things against him:
poverty,
blindness, abandonment, conditions that made him a loser, using present words of our language. He has heard of Jesus, of his treatments, his miracles, had nevertheless not had until the moment, the opportunity to be in person with Jesus. It happens that a day, after a long walk Jesus next to his disciples arrived at the town of Jericó, his last shutdown before arriving at Jerusalem.
Bartimeo is seated in the public way and by its condition of physical blindness it cannot accompany to Jesus in the procession. Then near him, he hear noises and he makes the question: what happens?, and they answered to him what Jesus of Nazaret is going through the way to Jericó. This pleasant news filled its heart of joy and he began to shout with all his forces: Jesus, son of David, please have mercy of me! , and he begins to look for Jesus in the darkness, with all the difficulties that You will be to imagine.people there bothered the shouts of Bartimeo, equal as the shouts of poor man many people nowadays bother, and only for whom has open his eyes and heart can listen needs of him. Bartimeo has for a long time longed for this opportunity, he can not to waste it because he do not know if Jesus will return to be again near him, reason why he still shouted with more forces. Jesus heard Bartimeo from the beginning but let him repeat again his oration. Also It happens to us, Jesus hear our first order, he hopes, he wants that we insist as the blind person of Jericó. Somebody approaches Bartimeo and says to him: get spirit, stand up,he is calling to you. To this request he feels that his faith and hopes renew. Bartimeo is now in front of Jesus: what do you want that I do for you? , he perfectly knew the desire of the blind person of Jericó, but he wanted to hear it of its own mouth. The blind person answered immediately : please I want to see, then Jesus responds to him: Now you see,your faith saved you, and right away he recovered the view. The first image that Bartimeo saw in his life was the Jesus face, would never forget it and from this moment Bartimeo followed him. This
history shows us as a parabola way, like the majority of the people we are blind (ace) in the world and for this reason is that there are many distortions around because we are walking continuously in darkness : robberies, kidnappings, violence, exclusion, poverty, adulteries, divorces, and You can not to stop this account. Certain that Jesus and his lessons prepares the way to us to make this world a kingdom where: peace, love, solidarity, progress, wisdom and as same as the blind person of Jericó did, we must put our thoughts in positive action, because we have the lessons. All the positive changes must be by ourselves, human beings of all the beliefs and races, in order to have a world where all we together would like to live better like brothers!
