The book 'How to stop
worrying and start living' is an excellent piece of work by Dale Carnegie. To begin with, the title
neither attracts attention nor does it sound like an interesting reading. But take a peep and this book is a wake up call and a reality check for all individuals on how to tame our thought process about problems that affect us in the professional and personal context of life as well. It's amazing how the unending desire to acquire wealth in personal lives and the hectic quest to climb up the professional ladder make us forget the basic facts and foundation of right thinking. If it does not sound boring I would love to rename the book a ‘Basics to happy living". Refer to the book when you feel down, do not know how to view a problem or feel caught up in a mental mess while trying to solve problems that matter to you.
The language used is very easy to understand, one can associate with the happenings in a typical day that one lives. The best part of the book is the real time examples that Dale provides which are interspersed with intelligent anecdotes. The book particularly makes you feel at peace when you get convinced that there are only certain
things in life which you control, so its better to concentrate energies on the best way to do those things right the first time, it sounds very simple but how often do we accept it in real life? Greed to control things that others do is more profound than consciousness in controlling what we should do. The book emphasizes this fact and you feel laughed at on how easy it is to forget the basics of right thinking. It's a must read for every one and a bible to refer for people who worry that worries exist only to trouble them and not their neighbours. One needs to do repetitive reading and application since there are certain sections in the book which are near yet so far for common understanding
So keep referring the book in parts and try implementing what is possible. If, at the least, one manages to understand and practice 20 pages of what Dale has written our mental health will see a new high and most importantly and surprisingly, people around will realize this sooner than we do!
So start living and before doing that, stop
worrying!
