Without Feathers

Book Review by: AgniezkaC

Original Author: Woody Allen
In Emily Dickinson' words " Hope is the thing with feathers", Woody Allen is the thing w ithout feathers.
And this is the title of Allen's 1975-book fullfilled with hopeless funny stories and two one act plays: God and Death.
Even though the book is a well-known bestseller that counts with great shorts, the play, Death, is one of Allen's at his best. The play begins with a bunch of noisy men, in the middle of the night, trying to recruit the main character to hunt for an psycho attacker. The man, the lead character, spends his night having not a clue of his part in the "plan", which isn't only one, for people get so absorbed  into the hunting that they forget what it is for, creating a chaotic and hilarious atmosphere of the ridiculous. Great play.
The other one-act play is God. If you ever thought of writing a story where the writer meets the characters, you're a little bit late. Again with great sense of humour, Allen explores the characters of a play that are in a play, which is fantastic.
Undoubtedly the best of the nonsesical genre. Highly recommend.
