Yesterday I was in Lolo Alf's
funeral (my
friend's grand father) to assist him in entertaining the guest. It was tiring. Just like a bock buster movie, the guest were keep on coming. We were so busy entertaining them to the point that we couldn't entertain them all because there were too many of them. Thank God, my friend’s auntie noticed it and offered us some help. As we finish our task, we finally had our break. We went to the dining and to have a cup of coffee. We spent a minute of silence while starring at the crowd of
mourning people. A sound of a crying lady broke our silence. A rich looking old lady wearing black was on the side of Lolo Alf's coffin. My friend Arjay approached the lady and asked, "madam are you related to my Lolo Alf?" and the lady answered "we were friends.". After our talk to the old lady we decided to have an air outside, as we go outside we
saw some stand byers. Curious, I asked them if they were related to Lolo Alf and they
replied, "we just passing when we saw this funeral. We think that the one lying in the coffin is a good person because there are many people paying some respect and sharing their mourning. We came here to pay our respect and to share our mourning to the dead.", "oh I see, I thought you just came to have some free coffee and biscuit." I replied. Since then
questions were bothering me. Until I got home that question remained unanswered.
I
wonder what people gather when other die? Even when they did not know the person that well, yet they still come to the funeral? What people feel they should?
Before going to sleep my mom called me. She's asking if dad is home. She was very worried. Suddenly, all of my questions were answered. I can't explain what happened, by hearing the "worried", thoughts were keep coming to my head.
I remember the day when Lolo Alf was still alive. He always gave us some thoughts and qoutes that we he learned from his experience. I also remember him saying people are connected to each other. Human spirit knows deep down that all lives intersect. That death doesn't take someone, it misses someone else and in the small distance, between being taken and being missed, lives are changed. At first I couldn't understand what he mean but now it is all clear to me. I miss Lolo Alf.
