     Narration of stories is a simple, yet forceful medium, for communicating effects of pious thoughts and wicked

ways, and difficult points for understanding for the common man. Some of them present actual happenings, and some are only imaginary. There are many ways of the world. We may or may not learn lessons from them. There is one thought that the happenings in this world, are a result of our past Karmas. The present book is the first volume in a series of books, presenting some of the best Jain stories. This is the English translation of the original book written in Hindi. This volume contains four beautiful stories. Most of the stories revolve around the relationship of husband and wife. These stories provide details of the worldly realities in life, covering human acts, incidents, imaginations etc. Some of the incidents given in the stories may look strange and impossible, astonishing and questionable, even fantasy. Our attitude should be positive, so that we can learn lessons from them, based on the information and incidents contained therein. There are thousands of useful stories available, especially in the literature of Jains.


    The story Golden lotus at every step, gives the witty and interesting story of two characters Dhanna and Shalibhadra. The absorbing events unfolded in the story, give us education and inspiration. Dhanna has courage, wisdom, positive and pious attitude, while the life of Shalibhadra has virtues of charity. The Sati Sur-Sundari story depicts the courage and wisdom of a woman. It is said that the woman purchased a kingdom, even with a few numbers of the smallest denomination of currency. It presents the difficulties faced by women at every stage of their life. The interesting story of Ratnavati-Ratnapaal shows the courage, wit and wisdom of women. The story of Mahasati Anjana depicts the sacrifice, discipline and tolerance of the highest order. The character of Anjana shows the glory of women. The stories given in this book have been written in simple language, serve as a source of inspiration for virtues like discipline, tolerance, attitudes and sacrifice etc. These prove that the Indian women are ahead of men in such virtues and need appreciation. The readers will find the stories interesting, inspiring, enjoyable, useful and pleasing, for inculcating such virtues and values in every one of us.
