I am always fond of love stories. I envy the author because she have witnessed an extraordinary love story between an
old couple named Kate and Chris. I find it amazing to know that there are people whose love surpassed the world's trials. After reading the story, it left me wondering, how they have survived and remain faithful to their marriage vows in our times were marriage only last for 5 years at the most? Well, I think I’m just asking too much.
They were usually the subject of discussion among the people at the nursing home because they can’t help but to admire the couple’s devotion and faithfulness to each other. They were never been ashamed of expressing their feelings, inspite of old age.
But every love story has an ending. And sometimes, it’s a tragic one. Chris died of heart attack. As expected, Kate was having a hard time accepting it. She was depressed. All her life, she had Chris. She was always dependent on him. Losing him was the hardest challenged she had to faced all by herself.
All of us had something, a memory, a ritual or a thing of someone we have loved and lost that we cannot easily let go of. In Kate’s case, it was Chris song and goodnight kiss. But I think, it was the love that accompanied the gesture, that she misses the most.
This story will touch anyone’s heart, especially the hopeless romantics who believed in fairy tale stories. Those people who have so much love to give and never expecting anything in return. They might find themselves wishing to have somebody, like Kate and Chris, who never gets tired of loving and caring for the person they chose to be with for the rest of their lives.
