Raj is a young, devoted son of a rich business tycoon of Mumbai. He is very studious and is dedicated to the family business.
Raj finds nothing else attractive except for his family, studies and work. He is a 25-yr old boy and his parents get him
married to a 23-year old beautiful, rich girl, Shikha from a small town, Hardwar. Shikha is enriched with all the traditional values and morals like devotion to her duties, respect for elders, honesty and contentedness with all that she possesses. Shikha is also a fighter who does not give up easily on any life’s problems.
Raj ignores his newly wed bride, Shikha as he is unaware about the feelings of love and the true meaning of
marriage. Raj is day and night engrossed in his studies and business. In no time, Shikha wins the heart of all the family members by her good qualities like she touches her in-laws and husband’s feet daily in the morning and seeks their blessings, takes care of everyone’s needs for all times of the day, treats the servants as humans and takes care of their feelings as well, cooks tasty food, feeds Raj with food first and later herself and so on.
Shikha loves Raj and decides to win his heart with her qualities and the help of her family members. Raj’s mother knows that Raj has not accepted Shikha as his wife yet so she decides to help Shikha in her task.
On Karwachauth, Shikha fasts for Raj all day. There is a gala celebration of the day in Shikha’s house. Raj is also present at home and Shikha tries to attract him by her dance, some fun and frolic (chedkhaniyaan). Raj realizes the value a woman gives to her husband when Shikha fasts for him for the first time but the feelings of love do not blossom in his heart for Shikha. Raj definitely respects Shikha but his over involvement in his career causes him to ignore her. Shikha believes that her task is half done by Raj’s presence on Karwachauth (because earlier Raj always came late from work and never shared any moment with Shikha).
Raj’s friend, Dev gets married to Mehak, and is invited for a party at their house. Raj becomes thoughtful after watching Dev and Mehak’s togetherness, talkative, helping and their loving bond. Dev and Mehak were smiling and really appeared, ‘Made for each other’. That night Raj could not sleep properly wondering how has he treated Shikha as her husband. Raj now understands the meaning of marriage.
Shikha’s brother is getting married and she goes to her maternal house for 10 days. Raj was not very keen to join Shikha for his brother-in-law’s marriage. When Shikha is not at home, Raj realizes that his entire family member is missing her a lot. Raj himself starts missing Shikha and all her care for him. It is then when Raj decides to attend his brother-in-law’s marriage and reaches Hardwar on the marriage day. Raj dances with the group and pulls Shikha to join him. Shikha is happily surprised and enjoys dancing with Raj. Shikha thanks God as her prayers are slowly being answered. Raj and Shikha happily return home. Shikha informs her mother-in-law about the changes in Raj. Raj’s mother is delighted.
It was Raj and Shikha’s 1st marriage anniversary. Shikha goes to the market to buy a present for Raj. On her way back, her car meets with an accident. When Raj comes to know about the accident he rushes Shikha to the hospital. Raj’s parents arrive at the hospital.
Seeing Shikha fighting with life, Raj changes completely. Raj goes crazy as he loves Shikha but could not express it to her. Raj also feels that he has not been a good husband to her. Raj expresses his repentance to his mother. Raj prays for Shikha’s life. GOD answers Raj’s prayers. Shikha recovers from her illness. Shikha is advised complete bed rest due to fracture of the backbone. Raj now fulfills his duty of being a devoted husband by taking complete care of Shikha and bringing her back on her feet.
Raj and Shikha live happily ever after under the shelter and the blessings of their elders. It was Shikha’s sanskaars which made her win the love of her husband, Raj.
