A
Matter of Honour is a novel by Jeffrey Archer, of Kane and Abel fame. A spy drama, and like any other Archer book for that matter, it's difficult to put down.
The story involves a suspenseful chase involving the British Intelligence, the KGB, and Adam Scott, a young Englishman. In his father's will, Adam Scott is left a mysterious
letter that even his father has not opened. His curiosity tested to the limit, he opens the letter and by doing so, becomes unwittingly trapped in an international investigation.
In another scene, a carbon testing of Russian masterpiece reveals that the Tsar's
icon of St George and the Dragon is nothing but a fake. The KGB
guys mount an intensive search for the original. Hidden within the missing icon is an important
document which would virtually render useless the defence strategy of the Americans, and making them a pawn on the chessboard of Russia.
The KGB guys have only one month to find the
original icon which in reality has disappeared for over fifty years ago, before the document expires. Terrific suspense, adventure, and a bit of romance.
