A hide away romantic place for people who are eager for a break in their routines, Goa is the state. We went to Goa during
the rainy season yet it was fun. It was greater fun in a group.
The train journey was for 9 hours. Tunnels, rocks, mountains, rivers were the main sights during the journey to Madgaon. It is a wonder how man has laid railway tracks through the rocks and tunnels. Greenery is the key word for Goa.
The stay was in a standardized resort with the best of the facilities. Our visit was a bit restricted due to the rains. The beaches were closed due to the under-water currents. The city markets were in a low due to off-season. But the temples and the
churches were exquisite. Cleanliness was maintained even in the rains. A trip to the sea in the cruise had its own charm. Nightlife was full of energy in the hotels.
Old Goa
It was the first
capital of the Portuguese until an epidemic forced them to move to Panjim (present capital of Goa). During their reign in Old Goa, the Portuguese built some really magnificent churches. One of them is ‘BASILICA OF BOM JESUS’ which is famous because of the tomb of the miraculously preserved remains of St. Francis Xavier, patron saint of Goa.
Panaji
Panjim is one of India’s smallest and most beautiful state capitals. Located on the South Bank of the Mandori River, it was made the state capital by the Muslim ruler, Yusuf Ali Shah. The best way to experience the city is to take a walk down the streets. White washed churches and numerous small bars and cafes. People are hospitable and kind and the atmosphere is relaxed.
Overall it is a must see place at least once with your loved ones.
