The Paris Sketch Book is a travel book
written by English novelist William Makepeace Thackeray. He also created
the illustrations.
Aside from the miscellaneous collection of travel essays, stories, Parisian culture, literary and art criticism, William Thackeray also includes comments on French manners and its society, for example, their characteristics, public events and gatherings. Some of the sketches have
appeared earlier in various periodicals.
His stories were
written primarily based on facts derived from his observations while in Paris.
The Paris Sketch Book was the first book to be published by W.M. Thackeray in England. It appeared under the pseudonym of 'Michael Angelo Titmarsh' instead of his actual name.
