Rage Against The Machine...
by Colin Devenish
It seems like nobody''s wondering why Rage broke up in 2000. Their fiery image projected in the early ''90''s was not commensurated with their act of breaking up. .it was so premature for a
band their caliber..
Oftentimes they were dubbed renegades..renegades of the media monopolized system of disseminating information. Through their music, Rage have improvised ways to bring out relevant social issues to the youth across the nation and practically all over the world...
I saw them performed here in Manila 10 years ago, and they were awesome.. though some idiots and poseurs caught their attention by throwing rubles at the stage.. Rage was pissed...they never thought for a
country with the longest running
revolutionary experience in Asia would do this to them--revolutionary artists...
what the heck..they continued touring the globe..
Initially, I was also pissed off at those people...realizing they were just a bunch of kids trying to get attention by doing crazy stuffs like that..
I formed a band about 4 years ago and I vowed to make a revolution in music... in our country..just like Rage...we did almost practically all covers from Rage.. it didn''t bother me because I thought it was the
best way to give
tribute to a band like them whom I Really loved so much... or let''s say I idolized and praised so much...
Later, they reunited at Coachella, I think the best way to follow their steps is to make an original sound which can also be a tribute for them... a tribute for their revolutionary practice. I think they will be happy hearing that a band like us had drawn inspiration from them...
Kwerpo is the name of my band... it literally means group in our native language... just as simple as that... no nonsense jargons and stuff other bands liked to do with their band names..
Now, for the book...I think you shouldread it... It tells details not found on the Internet.. I guarantee... And please try to listen to our songs through www.myspace.com/kwerpokwatro and maybe you can define the difference of Kwerpo as the prodigy and Rage as our mentor...
probably...you''ll never know why if you do not act now..Read it!!
