Last night started the ball rolling back .... I received an email from the prestigious magazine in
America ... New Yorker ... to the effect that they cannot use my stufff ... well I suppose in view of the reported
writers strike in America I would guess that it could be due to
lack of remuneration ... they
dont wish to pay .. they dont want anybody other than
Roddy Doyle ... or I am not an American! Certainly the New Yorker goes /out reach/here in England to bait writers such as myself to contribute ... even former President Bill Clinton has written stern and continuous emails about contributing not only in terms of money but one/s talents ... he is recorded as welcoming writers to contribute ... so I thought it must be about money yet again as my standard of writing is excellent and besides I have already published a book of poems in America ... Rock Me ... www.publishamerica.com which has SOLD!
So there is another possibly ... its the Underground movement of writers where they dont want you to say they want you to write for rejection ... generally throughout the world thats known as "terrorism" .... afterall if you go into Marks and Spencer with five hundred
pounds to buy five
coats at one hundred pounds each you want to come out of the shop with five coats and M & S will have collected your five hundred pounds but you will be "stood there" with your five new coats .. theres not a lot of
point in having over the money and not getting the coats ... that''s crime!
London Underground poem certainly has proved here in England a talking point in and around the city .... my engineer said that it was amazing someone like myself a poet of note would write about London'' Transport System ... I suppose my answer to that is I have been on the tube for 20 years and it proved a stimulating subject and is now published in the UK on 31st October, 2007 ... great
