The Boy Next Door

Book Review by: AshGungy

Original Author: Meg Cabot
Meg Cabot, one again, delivers with the novel The Boy Next Door. With a witty cast of fictions characters that youth and
adults alike can more than likely relate to as if they were actual friends of the reader. The writer explores the life of Melissa Fuller, a gossip columnist for the NY journal and her many trials while trying to solve a 'Sherlock Holmes' type incident. --A neighbor is assaulted, a great dane is orphaned, and lies swirl throughout the novel. As the story progresses, the reader will likely find themselves rooting for Fuller, and those around her, with a hearty heart. The book has most elements that youth find appealing. There is romance, friendship, and quirky conversations all around. The Princess Bride author does not lack in excitements.--I found the book to be easily readable the entire way through. I finished it in little more than two days time. Some readers may find the conversations through e-mail to be difficult to catch up on, but I applaud the different style of writing. It adds spice. Boy Next Door is appropriate for those above the age of 15+ with very few graphic elements which parents might be apprehensive about. Overall, this book is an excellent choice for those who enjoy a book with boundless elements.
