Eclipse

Book Abstract by: Insomniac23

Original Author: Stephenie Meyer
Something monstrous is stalking Seattle, and the humans branded it as a serial killer. The Cullens, however, know better.
A coven of new-borns is causing the horrible deaths of innocents in Seattle, and it will not be long before the Volturi have to act. This poses another problem for the Cull - they did not want the Volturi so near Bella Swan. So the Cullens decide to take the new-borns by themselves, but the thirsty ones are too numerous for them. Much as they did not want to, the Cullens did not have a choice, especially when they knew that the target of the new-borns was Bella. An alliance with the wolves is formed...
The third book in the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer has many stories crammed in this one installment of the book but the effortless manner in which these stories wound in and out of each other was commendable. Here, we get to know the stories behind the transformation of Rosalie and Jasper. We are given firsthand information regarding the legends of the wolves. And there was a bit of action in the end, the bit when Victoria, the mate of the vampire the Cullens killed in the first book, bringing along with her the new-borns which she created, got too near Bella. This, in my honest opinion, is pivotal because a rare alliance between the vampires and the wolves was formed. Yet, somehow, again in my honest opinion, that part was downplayed a bit. And what stood out was Bella's conflicting emotions toward Jacob, and the tug-of-war between the friend and the lover. Beyond the drama of conflicting emotions however, is a simple love triangle, and the oh-so-human dilemma a heart being torn in two. It brings to mind that song 'Torn Between Two Lovers.' Please let this NOT be the song the author had in mind.
