"Pulpecja" is the eighth part of the "Jezycjada" series by Malgorzata Musierowicz which takes place mainly in Jezyce, the
area of Poznan City. The
main character of the book is Pulpecja or Patrycja Borejko, Ignacy's daughter who is a classicist and a library science specialist. She is a cheerful and self confident blonde with blue eyes who is very successful with the opposite sex. She is friends with Roma Kowalik who looks exactly opposite to her: thin, skin and bones and not necessarily a pretty girl who has a sharp tongue on her. However, their friendship is put to the test when they both fall in love with Florian Gorski (a.k.a Baltona), Patrycja's friend from childhood, who is a fan of Jarmusch's films and an owner of a black Harley Davidson. The action of the novel is divided into two chapters which are pointed by sequential holidays: Christmas, New Year's Eve, Epiphany, Valentine's Day, Podkoziolek (a regional celebration), Women's Day, April Fools' Day, Palm Sunday, Easter Monday, Mother's Day and also Child's Day. The motto is " Trust: don't petals fall down as they should?" by Issa (1763-1826) who was the last creator of haiku , which actually refers to the main character: - 19 year old student of the final year in one of Poznan high schools. She knows exactly what her future
plans are: she wants to study economy or law for managers, and then set up her own business and become a woman of success. She considers a marriage to be on obstacle in her path. However, her plans didnt work out the way she wanted: enamoured, Patrycja fails her final exams and she accepts Baltona's proposal.
