Loss of the Soviet Communist Party's Advanced Nature and The Drastic Collapse of the Soviet Union——R

Article Summary by: TsingHua

History of revolutionary struggles proves that the proletarian revolution invariably emerged victorious after making theoretical
innovations and breaking down certain original conclusions and stereotyped thinking. In the socialist construction period, theoretical innovations are equally important. The communist party is the vanguard of the working class and the leading force in a socialist society. This is first of all determined by the advanced nature of the communist party. One of the most important lessons in the drastic collapse of the Soviet Union is that the Soviet Communist Party had slackened its ideological and organizational building efforts over a long period of time. In terms of ideological building, the Soviet Communist Party and its leadership had stuck to conventions and lacked theoretical innovations, adopting a dogmatic approach towards Marxism. Proceeding from dogmas and book worship in everything, they had interpreted the world reality as well as the Soviet social reality with a static and metaphysical approach, oversimplifying the common law of man's substitution of capitalism with socialism. They had ignored the importance of absorbing all advanced civilization fruits achieved by man, including those achieved under the capitalist system. This had led to the prolonged predominance of a "Leftist" tendency in the history of the Soviet Communist Party, thus planting the roots of the subsequent disasters of Gorbechov's Right tendency. In terms of organic building, in all the pre-Gorbechov periods, the greatest deficiency in Soviet Party building was the lack of inner Party democracy. The Party top leadership "monopolized' all power and truth, suppressed different opinions inside the Party and even carried out inner Party struggle in the form of class struggle. By the time of Gorbechov period, the Soviet Communist Party had already changed its nature as the vanguard of the working class, abolished the principle of democratic centralism and gone through a process of evolution from inner Party differences, frequent ideological and political struggles, ideological and even organizational splits. The fundamental reason for the disintegration of the Soviet Communist Party lay in the loss of its advanced nature as the vanguard of the working class, the loss of people's support. Thus it was eventually spurned by the people. When studying the theory of "Three Represents" and studying Jiang Zemin's July 1 speech, we find it of great theoretical and practical significance to review the history of the Soviet Union and draw lessons from it.
