Compared with those plain areas,the peripheral mountain areas of Beijing are obviously lack of superiority in developing
traditional primary and secondary activities.However,there exist certain advantages in constitution of regional resources for mountain economic growth which plain areas do not possess.At the moment,exploitation of tourism resources,characterized with hilly scenery,is becoming a new wave of development within the mountain areas,and playing a positive role in transformation of economic structures for the areas' future. As an industrial activity,tourism certainly has its own economic rules to obey.Focusing on
consumption behaviors,this paper first probes into the evolution of the tourism market components and the tourists' moving distance in Beijing suburbs by a review of short historical period,and furthermore analyses the overall consumption capability of Beijing local tourist market at the present concerning the peripheral mountain areas.According to the relationship between annual touring expenditure and annual income per capita of Beijing citizens: Y=0.018373X-31.2753 (yielded from the above research),the discussion goes into the possibility of rational price making for the mountain tourism.The viewpoint is then made that investment from the mountain areas' own must be paid more attention in order to realized their tourism sustainable development in concern with capital collection. Finally,some suggestions are put forth for exploitation of the tourism resources in the peripheral mountain areas,which are to further cultivate all round tourism consumption,and to promote scientific technical investment in tourism development by introducing comprehensive scenic spot planning and design.
