Abstract This Paper regards Xiaoshuangqiao Site of the Shang ynasty in Zhengzhou was Aodu
Capital built by king Zhongding.
The Proofs are as follows: Ⅰ Xiaoshuangqiao Site with an area of 14400000m2, being slightly smaller than Shangcheng of Yangshi, is the third largest of the Early Shang Sites and should have been a
Capital site; Ⅱ Xiaoshuangqiao Site, locating between ancient cities of Xingze (荥泽古城)and Xingyang(荥阳) and nearing Aocang (敖仓), keeps consistent with the record in genealogy of Kings (《帝王世纪》);Ⅲ The time of Xi- aoshuangqiao Site mainly is Late Period of Upper Erligang when Shangchang of Zhengzhou, one of capital cities of Shang was disused. It should have been Aodu; Ⅳ In Xiaoshuangqiao Site, there are several palace construction sites, of which the bigger ones even have a length of over 50m, a rammed-earth platform with a hight of 12m and over 10 sacrificial pits. All these remains meet the specifications of a capital city. V Also in the sacrificial pits there dis- covered several three- bladed
stone spades, which were from Yueshi Culture in Shandong Province. The book Guben zhu shujinian (《古本竹书纪年》) recorded that King Zhongding ev- er went on an expedition to Lanyi (蓝夷) and its material culture is belived to be Yueshi Cul- ture. the stone spades unearthed here probably were brought back for sacrifice during Zhongding's expedition.
