Gexianshan is medium-highg mountain among the foothills in the middle part of theLongmenshan Mountain Range. It is located
on the northwestern border of the WestSichuan Plain, 65 kilometers northwest to Chengdu. The peaks are between 1600 and1020 meters above sea-level.This area is strategically located and difficult of access.Gexianshan is very rich in tourist resources both for

The Gexianshan nappe outlier,which is one of the Pengguan Nappe Outliers,is the nappe outlierwhich has longest nappe displacement distance. It also has the youngest autochthonousstrata system under the nappe outlier. Only in this area we can verify the fact that thePengguan Nappe Outliers are formed in the period of the Neotectonic Movement.Manyfacts indicate the Quaternary crustal movement.The change of drainage systems is thesecondary river captured the original consequent rivers. There are many kinds of represen-tative karst landforms in this area which can be used to study the age of the karst. Tourist resources for
