Objective To investigate the mechanism of the protective effect of anthroquinone solution on acute lung injury induced by
abdominal infection in rats. Methods abdominal infection model in rat was achieved by ligating and puncturing caecum. The rats were divided into 3 groups randomly:(1)sham operated controls(n=10);(2) acute lung injury(ALI) model(n=10);(3)ALI treated by anthroquinone solution(n=10).All the rats were killed in 48 hours after operation and treatment.Pulmonary capillary vessel permeability, lung wet-dry ratio and cell assorting of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid were measured and pathologic histology changes was measured, compared and analyzed. Results The pulmonary capillary vessel permeability, lung wet-dry ratio and percentage of neutrocyte of pulmonary capillary vessel permeability of ALI model were significantly higher than those of sham operated control group (P<0 05).There were obvious pathlolgic changes in the ALI group through optic and electronic microscopy. After anthroquinone solution was given, the lung injury index and pathologic change were much better then those in ALI group (P<0 05). Conclusion Athroquinone can reduce pulmonary capillary vessel permeability, restrain the accumulation of neutrocytes in lung, relieve the inflammation of lung and at last alleviate the lung injury.
