Objective: To observe the effects of kidney supplementing, Qi invigorating and blood activating (KQB) Prescription containing
serum on
proliferation and apoptosis of rabbit chondrocytes in vitro. Method: The chondrocytes were isolated from the cartilage of the rabbits, and were divided into 5%, 10%, 20% KQB prescription containing serum groups and control group. After the chondrocytes were cultured for 7 days in 37℃,50 ml/L CO 2 incubator, their proliferation, apoptosis and the telomerase activity were detected with MTT, TUNEL and PCR ELISA
respectively. Result: The proliferation of chondrocytes in 5%,10% ,20% KQB prescription containing serum groups were respectively higher than those in control group(P<0.05);their apoptosis were respectively lower than those in control group(P<0.05);their telomerase activity were respectively higher than those in control group(P<0.01). Conclusion: KQB Prescription can inhibit the apoptosis of chondrocytes by up regulating the telomerase activity.
