Yuan Zhen and Bai Juyi marked outstandingly the direction change of poetic thoughts from idealistic to realistic writing
during midterm of Tang Dynasty. However, the poetic creations especially ballads and poems in folk style of Zhang Ji and Wang Jian, who lived a little earlier than Yuan and Bai,were actually provided with most essential charactercstic of this direction change.By a wide holding of people′s actual lives;and close attention paying to social and political problems, and choice of traditional literary normal form with satire and implied meaning, and popular language and vulgar circumstances,Zhang and Wang′s ballads and poems in folk style had become the precedence of Yuan and Bai′s poetic style.Admittedly,Zhang and Wang′s poems was less significant than Yuan and Bai in extent of upholding vulgarity and calling for a down-to-earth approach, but they had natural affinity owing to their rich intension amidst Yuanhe(806-820)poetic circles where different styles and schools presented in succession, thus they had pushed forward the course of change direction of poetic thoughts.
