In recent years, tourism industry has been experiencing increasingly serious challenge with respect to environmental matter. There
is growing evidence that tourism developers are opting for self\|regulation in their efforts to achieve sustainable forms of tourism.
Environmental auditing,as a new emerging approach,is an evaluation and monitoring of subsequent aspect of
environmental performance and is a key element in environmental management system. In this paper,a conceptual and systematic framework and procedures for an environmental auditing program is presented within which a series of activities and decisions can be made that help define a set of desired conditions and the management actions necessary to maintain or restore these conditions. The need both to improve the process of evaluating and monitoring the environmental performance of tourism development and to incorporate the results of such evaluation and monitoring into decision making processes will become even more crucial in the future as tourism continues to grow.
