The fundamental thing for a
harmonious society is equality in benefit sharing. However, a market economy falls short of the
task. Uneven reforming - cost - sharing in a market economy has accelerated the earning - based hierarehizing process which leads to the polarization and the conflict among different social stratums. The Party in power should not take social conflicts as a simple war of the classes. On the contrary, it needs to exert itself on the
construction of a
harmonious society. Harmony does not mean to unify; it is not equalitarianism, but to adjust the nuances among the classes. Advanced culture is a necessity to this construction. And the role of a government can never be replaced by the market, or by any company or group. Running a company needs efficiency while running a government needs fairness. This is the main difference between them. Only a fair society can eventually become a harmonious one. The government also needs to support non ?government organizations, which will in turn help the government in transforming its functions. Communication and feed back systems play a great part in building a harmonious society.
