Aim The mode of PE is a common method to
the anthropology of tourism. The process of this mode is simply introduced, then
it is used to analyze Jingzhou city, which is a historic ancient city. Methods The practice outdoors includes inspecting the material symbol of Jingzhou culture and surveying a sample of people . The study of ethnography helps to construct the array of time and analyze the pattern of space about the
landscape context of Jingzhou . Results The perception of cultural landscape can be classified into ten types, among all of these, Chu culture and Sanguo culture are two most special types . It is concluded that the culture of Jingzhou has been well preserved from the Chu dynasty ,Sanguo dynasty to Ming and Qing dynasty, and even to the contemporary age .The space pattern of Jingzhou landscape context can be described as “one center ,two axis ,four groups ”. Conclusion It is a brand new method to abstract the landscape context on the base of empirically study of PE mode and it provides a reference to the protection of historic ancient city and the expanding of cultural tourism.
