The technique

off the job training is not related to everyday activities of job. The location of the training may be company’s class room, an outside placed owned by the company or a training institute. The main objective of the management development is to improve the behaviour of the managers. It can be well achieved with off the job training. Technological development demands that managers need to be placed in a highly stimulated atmosphere to derive the maximum output.
The popular techniques of this training are:
1. Lectures
These arte formally organized talks by an instructor on a specific topic. This method is useful when theories, philosophy, concepts, attitudes and problem solving have to be discussed. The lecture can be used for a very large group to be train in short time. The lectures are supplement with discussion, film screenings, case studies and role playing.
2. Seminars and Conference:
In the seminars members discuss on a selected subject or theme. One or more trainee presents paper on the theme. The material of discussion is distributed in advance.
In conference, mutual problems are discussed and participants share their ideas and experience in dealing with the problem. It is a training through sharing and learning from each other. During the discussion, the participants may be divided in groups for intensive discussion. These groups report back to the whole group with their conclusion and problems. This method helps in developing conceptual knowledge and modifying trainees’ attitudes.

Case studies present the real business problems of situations demanding solution to the group. In this method, the members of the group are trained to identify the problems presented, suggest alternatives, analyze each alternative and compare their suitability. Finally finding a best solution. The trainer only facilitates the discussion.
This method develops analytical thinking and problem solving ability. It encourages unbiased mind, patient listening, respecting other views and integrating the knowledge. Case studies also help trainees to understand problem, hurdles and uncertainties occur in a business.

Role play is one of the interesting business games. Role playing also called socio drama and psycho drama. Here trainees put themselves in given roles and act as they are in stage play.
