Women - Second Class Citizens in Pension Fiasco:

Article Review   by:SM THOMPSON

Dont chuck this in the bin - well lets write on - Britain's pensioners especialy women are low earners - referring to statistics released by the Department for Work and Pensons - these figures highlight the dramatic difference with some getting $2OO a week more state pension than others.

But the reality is that men get the highest amounts and women the lowest - and therefore that is a key point in this article in the Daily Express.

So its back to means testing which often penalises those who try to save for retirement. But Eddie O'Gorman of financial specialists The WAY Group said that latest official data reflects complex state of current system and imbalance which leads to disadvantage for many hard working people when they retire.

At last there is a positive focus on the real state of affairs so the Department for Work and Pension figures say that over 340,000 people receive under £20 a week with more than one million getting less than £60.

So an adjacent articles writes that under the present system its impossible to work out state system of pension entitlement. and the Coalition plan a single state pension of around £14O a week based on National Insurance contributions and available to anyone with a decent working history (I worked for 4O years and started at only 17)

From October millions will be enrolled into company pensions for the first time and this refers to workers ... as Tom McPhail Head of pension research at Hargreaves Landsdowne comments in the Daily Express:

But referring back to state pensions the article - writes about a sort of roulette with pensions - a flat rate single tier will simply it all and give people certainty instead of chance. To secure saving and its sure foundation of saving.
The emphasis is on saving for retirement. But what happens when one retires the answer is in the stars and keep on working when possible and do take care of health also.
