LOGISTICS
By omrelaP
Logistics is the process of taking the separate functions of transportation, distribution, inventory management, warehousing, sequencing, customer service and merchandising, and orchestrating these into a complex, multi-faceted synchronous movement of goods, services and information.
Without logistics, companies manage these functions as isolated entities or silos with separate management structures and cost centers which often lead to redundancy, overlapping of functions and excessive unnecessary costs.
Logistics design and systems integration will form the foundation on which the synchronous movement of materials, services and information is based upon. By integrating the functions of transportation, warehousing and inventory management, tangible results will be generated that will have direct positive impact on the company’s productivity and costs.
