It is always wiser to learn from the experience of others. We often find our veterans when they sit together, talk of the events of the past. More often than not, there is some lesson to be noted for our guidance in our future career. Having a rich live heritage; as a member of third generation of leaders, I had the opportunity to be amongst such crowd with varied experience. In the ever changing environments, a potential leader has to perfect himself in multifarious fields in order to train and groom those whom he is going to lead. A blind man cannot lead the line. One has to study and absorb the tips and ethical code of fine leadership set out by our predecessors.
In today’s world every profession invite peoples to their toughest problems or ask their hardest questions. Inevitably these deals with conflicts or dilemmas that cant be resolved using conventional approaches. Correct principles are like compasses; they are always pointing the way. And if we know how to read them, we won’t get lost, confused or fooled by conflicting voices and values. We do not live alone on islands, isolated from other people. We are born into families; we grow up in societies; we become students of schools, members of other organization, once into our profession, we find that our jobs require us to interact frequently and effectively with others. If we fail to learn and apply the principles of interpersonal effectiveness, we can expect our progress to slow or stop. Here I learnt that real character and skill development is irrevocably related to natural laws and governing principles the cruxes to be a good leader are:
1. Dedication: - Dedication to profession is the foundation of all the true leadership qualities to develop well disciplined and coherent teams of workers.
2. Training: - Today’s advancement in every field of life require to keep oneself abreast with the latest knowledge. As a lead while training one must fully take part in all the activities and be a part of his outfit. The training should be made both imaginative as well as interesting and a sense of inquisitiveness to be created.
3. Competition:- Sense of competition keeps the spirits alive, so keep it activated and create ways and means to generate it.
4. Team spirit: - One must take up assignment with zeal to work as team. You can never succeed alone unless you knit yourself in a team, I feel that it is a great attribute which generate sense of espirit de corps and thus the subordinates are never shy and hesitant to express their views before their leader.
In last, I must say that there could be lot more tips to understand "What makes a good leader" to actually confronted with varied situations. Those are the natural laws or principles and they are essentially self evident and indisputable. Unlike the great debate that surrounded value clarification, these are basic principles that you will find everyone will recognize.
