Climate change is fast reaching a tipping point, which is considered among most of the world communities as a point of irreversible
change and hence deserves urgent action to tackle climate change that will have a global impact in balancing
Climatic Injustice. Even in context of fast approaching Conference of Parties (COP) of The United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), popularly referred as “
Climate Summit”, and despite of the acute nature of the most critical climatic issue, political and other leaders have not yet provided the required leadership to effectively slow down and ideally reverse the climate change. Post Rio Summit in 1992, witnessed some important multi – lateral environmental agreements (MEAs), that are being negotiated and signed at different stages and various moments of time. The UNFCCC, which belongs to the extended forum of MEAs, through its instrument of COPs, under United Nations comprising of national governments, has given a clarion call for “Climate Summit”, in Copenhagen this December, leading to derive Climate Negotiations, beyond Kyoto Protocol that will have an enduring impact on Global Economy, and on all our lives in terms of tackling Climate Change in favour of Climatic Injustice.
The Treatise derives its epitome through ongoing debates on critical energy, environment and economic issues worldwide and subsequently emerging energy, environment and climatic policy approaches over past four decades, leading to evolve unified policy framework, in the defined Framework of United Nations’ Framework Convention on Climate change, ISO Series & related International Standards and Millennium Developmental Goals, for developing low carbon or carbon free sustainable and renewable energy portfolios of 21st century and beyond, through applications of energy efficient technologies as well, aiming at ultimately converting the infinite Global Energy Systems into sustainable economy of centuries ahead, during the Fossil or Carbon Energy Lead Time in mid 21st century term.
The article focuses on Anatomical Analysis of Carbon Economy in context of Carbon Energy Business over past 20th century, in the specific framework of environment & climate changes and in terms of fossil fuel resource availability and constraint in current century, that derives Global Energy & Environment Policy Approaches tackling climate change through evolved ISO standards in association with International Communities such as IPCC, UNFCCC, SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers), and some of International Standardization Organizations namely International Electro – Technical Commission (IEC), International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on the dimensions of Millennium Developmental Goals in 21st century.
Tackling climate change empowers energy industry and consumer communities alike to adopt energy efficient technologies at large and further orients on diversification to green and sustainable energy portfolios of 21st century in the framework of Kyoto Protocol and Emissions’ & Carbon Trading beyond Bali and furthermore Copenhagen Summit this December 2009. The epitome originates through the significant dimensions of Energy, Environment and Economy such as Environment and Climate, Natural Resource Conservation and Economics, Economic Development and Growth and the Human Development Indices at the apex of that and concludes at large, with the objectives of standardization of empowering energy industries and consumers on equal scale and footing to tackle climate change through national, regional and international standards, treaties, agreements and laws with the purpose of reversing climate change by turn of the century balancing climatic injustice in favour of developing nations.
In nature’s history, the severe consequences of global warming, mainly due to lopsided consumption of fossil fuel or carbon based energy over 19th and more specifically during turn of 20th century by developed change and hence deserves urgent action to tackle climate change that will have a global impact in balancing Climatic Injustice. Even in context of fast approaching Conference of Parties (COP) of The United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), popularly referred as “Climate Summit”, and despite of the acute nature of the most critical climatic issue, political and other leaders have not yet provided the required leadership to effectively slow down and ideally reverse the climate change.
