The Red light will turn on, Gently pull out enough cable to fasten the clip to the jewelry piece to be tested, hold the edge of the jewelry lightly to the test strip and hold it for 2-3 seconds, to establish a proper electro-chemical reaction, then gently and slowly slide along. If it contains gold, it will draw a brownish line. Plated jewelry may leave at the beginning a short line without continuation.
To establish the grade of the gold by The Golden Touch Electronic Gold you can use the rotary switch. First, turn the dial to a higher grade setting and test the gold. Gradually decrease the dial's grade setting until a line is made. The grade setting at which you see the first continuous line will be the grade of the gold.
When you use The Golden Touch Electronic Gold, Higher grade gold will leave a light yellow-orange colored line. Lower grades will leave a darker brown line, getting darker as the grade decreases.
