The song "Bobby Magee" has a special appeal so much so that having gone surfing You Tube Icame up with
the most ffamous version recorded by Janis Joplin which has a special appeal which carries over through the generations.
Janis Joplin died young and was lost to drugs but her version of this song lives on and on and this nostalgic walk through time reflects the interest in the lyrics and were they back in the sixties referring to the military or to politicians worldwide or even to the late great Bobby Kennedy as the associations with this song are univeral!
I remember at the time of Bobby Kennedy's assassination I was in Greece on holiday with my former partner and some Americans came up to me and commented on the news from the USA that Bobby Kennedy was dead and that was about somewhere in and around of the summer of 1968!
There have been many versions of this song since then and I have listened to them and still to this day fell intrigued by the connections and associations of that point n time!
Also I remember my headteacher a nun mentioning the connections she had with this song on a visit I had with my former husband at the convent where I went to school and the discussion was ample!
But the musical legend lives on and the song "Bobby Magee" lives on and on and has been recorded by many artists and even to this day has a freshness which appeals across the time scale and across the generations!
However, the musical legend of the Sixties tugs at the heart and in those days we were very young and BOBBY MAGEE left a lasting musical legend which lingers on many years after the death of the legendary Janis Joplin!
Janis Jooplin lives on and on!
