Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde

Movie Review

Reese Witherspoon returns as Elle in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde and proves that indeed, one movie was enough. This drab and uninteresting sequel obviously was made for the sake of making money, as it offers very little in the way of anything entertaining.

Witherspoon, who has made a name for herself with such hits as Legally Blonde and Sweet Home Alabama, plays the same chipper and ditzy character from the first movie, only now she has graduated from Harvard Law School and is aiming to stop cosmetic testing on animals. Unfortunately, her character has somehow reverted back to the same clueless individual that was Elle Woods at the beginning of the original movie; that Harvard law degree seems as though it did nothing to improve her knowledge of the world. You see, this time around, she is trying to change things through politics in Washington, D.C., and since it is, like, a completely different world from the courtroom, it, like, means that people are going to think she is, like, a complete idiot, just like they did in the first movie. In fact, the sequel is almost identical to the original, except that it isn''t original and isn''t funny. Like, what''s the point?

Legally Blonde 2 never really scrapes bottom - Witherspoon is entertaining enough to watch on screen, and there are one or two good jokes thrown in (like pepper on rotten steak) - but at the same time has absolutely nothing to offer. The movie gets incredibly cheesy and unbelievable near the end, and the rest is just vapor.
