When a void was created after the decline of the then superstar Rajesh khanna, It was ably taken over by AB as the next big thing of bollywood and many believe that it was this movie which confirmed the supremacy of Ab and put him on the pedestal of greatness from where he never looked back on his initial failures. This was probably the first movie which was written solely keeping Mr.Bachan on mind. The movie was instant hit and vijay became a name synonymous with AB for a long time, Probably the most common on screen name of AB. The dialogues of the movie were so well written that it made the movie an all time classic. Two of the most famous scenes being one when the brother meet below the bridge where their life’s started with AB and shashi justifying their stand and after a long conversation finding themselves on either side of the bridge and the world famous dialogue “ mere pass maa hai”. The other scene being when AB goes to the temple and begs god for the life of his mother though he never believed in him was probably the high point of the movie, and who can forget billa no 786. On the star scale it was a perfect five star.
