DELHI -6
After a long time period there is a film which tells us the story of proper India, specially about Delhi. In this time when directors and producers are making films on the backdrop of London, Miami, Cape Town--director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehera has made an attempt to make a tour of Delhi which we have never seen like this.
The film opens in New york where the surgeon indicates that Anupama (Waheeda Rahman) suffering a serious heart blockage and she has a very little time to live. In this stage she wants to visit Delhi where she was born and spent her childhood and young age. Here comes Roshan (Abhishek Bachhan) her grandson who is ready to take his grandmother to Delhi. In the meantime, the news media in Delhi is busy in making the news of Black Monkey (Kaala Bandar). This creature is creating terror among the people. In Delhi, Anupama is received with ceremony by his family member. Roshan faces the huge crowd of the streets, neighbour and the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk. He captured so many moments in his mobile camera. In his screen Bittu (Sonam Kapoor) made her presence with a magic. Bittu wants to make her name as a singer. She is preparing her voice for Indian Idol competition which can make her famous overnight. she wants to fly like pigeon named Massakali. She is planning to start her carrier from Mumbai film industry. Roshan falls in love but he doesn't have the word to express.
Now there's Black Monkey who is travelling on the roofs of open house. But it is India. Director shows that how media making small things larger than it was. One day a religious man (Tantrik Shanni Baba )said by that it is nothing but a matter of temple. Make a temple and the monkey will be vanish.
After that the hindu and muslim community started angry meetings and fights for their religion. In this moment Bittu plans to go Mumbai to fullfil his dream. Seeing the film in the theatre will be the best process to know the last part.
The film carries a very good ambience. Lenswork by Binod Pradhan is awesome. "Massakalli" will be the best tone of the year by A.R Rahman. He can create anything he wants. Other songs are good. In the song "dil gira" you can see the multimedia work, thanks to editor P.S Bharthi and also cinematographer for their effort. Set design by Samir Chanda made the proper appearance. But the screenplay lacks sometimes. Director has carried the film in a wonderful way. But this kind of film demands thinkful audience. In this age these numbers are very small. Best of luck to Rakeysh Omprakash Mehera for making such a wonderful film like this. We want more films on different taste so that it can make good audience.
