A different movie by Yash Raaj Banner after a while. A courageous move by director, Kabir Khan to make a movie on 9/11 since there have been dozens far better (English) versions. But this is the Hindi one, so good news for the Bollywood lovers.
It is a story of three friends: Sam (John Abrahim), Maaya (Katrina Kaif) and Omar (Neil Nitin Mukesh). Omar has been to the States for the first time in his life. He meets there Sam and Maaya and the trio makes a good small 'Friends' group. There is a kind of love triangle where Omar likes Maaya, Maaya proposes Sam, and so on.
The trio were enjoying their lives in US, far from any apprehension, whatsoever. Then, the 9/11 takes place and life suddenly changes for ever. From heaven to hell, their lives take a U-turn when FBI agent Roshan (Irrfan Khan) comes with his impressive personality to interrogate them.
The first half is focused on Neil. After being typed as 'Jhonny Gabbar' and a weak performance in'Aaa Dekhein Jara' Neil has transformed into a matured actor. Certainly, Katrina can act. She has done this!
John is a cool American dude. His performance in comparison from that in Taxi No. 9211 is almost balanced.
FBI agent Irrfan as usual impressed with his dialogue delivery.
Music is soothing, cinematography is good. Good dialogues.
Commercially - not extraordinary.
First week full - hope so.
Critically - do not ask for bollywood films again.
But having said that, this is a must watch-one-time movie. Go grab your ticket.
