Open Season 2

Movie Review   by:rsastry

Introduction
It is that part of the year in India, when kids have summer vacations. That means I switch over to animated and kids movies so that I can watch them with my son and family. So this year's collection, I decided to start of with Open Season 2 as I had like Open Season 1 very much.

Plot
Unlike the first part, there really is no plot in Open Season 2. Elliot is about to get married to Giselle, when he develops cold feet. In the meanwhile, Mr. Weenie the dog gets dognapped by it's erstwhile owner or at least that is what Elliot feels.

So Elliot, Boog, Giselle, McSquizzy and gang go to the city to free Mr. Weenie. Are they able to set him free or not is the remainder of the story.

Critic's Viewpoint
The strong point of Open Season 1 was Boog's character and the fact that Elliot worked as his loud mouthed side kick. This time around it is all about Elliot with all others working around him. For starters there is very little in way of comic relief in the movie.

Add to that the storyline is non-existent and it is more like watching a regular cartoon serial that is stretched like a rubber band to make a movie out of it. In fact, I do not really remember having a laugh at any major part of the movie. My kid liked the animals though, but overall he got disinterested in the movie very soon which for me is a sure shot indication of the movie failing with it's intended audience. Overall the movie to me seems to be made largely on shots that were canned in the first movie, just pieced together with some new shots to get a movie in place.

Summary
All in all, the comic season is off to a bad start here for us. I am loosing my patience with the sequels of animated movies as most of them are really turning out bad.

All in all a 2 star rating for the movie from my side.
