Paul Blart: Mall Cop

Movie Review   by:ReaditDiva
ª

Don’t mess with Paul Blart. He takes his job as a mall cop very, VERY seriously. Sure, he failed the New Jersey state trooper exam not once, not twice, but 8 times. So he’s a little (okay, a lot) on the chubby side and suffers from hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). And he still lives with his mother – but that’s just so she can help him raise his daughter, Maya (Raini Rodriguez), after his wife left him. But the shoppers in the West Orange New Jersey mall should feel safe with veteran security officer (not “guard” he insists) Paul Blart, on patrol…sort of.

Actor / comedian Kevin James is absolutely hilarious in this PG comedy about an unlikely hero who never gets any hits on his http://www.PerfectMatch.com page. Poor Blart is like the Charlie Brown of law enforcement: nobody gives this security guard any respect. One afternoon Blart tries to issue a citation to a cranky old guy for allegedly driving his scooter over the speed limit. The old man proceeds to run Paul Blart over! Another time Blart tries to settle a dispute between two angry shoppers in the legendary lingerie store Victoria’s Secret and gets pummeled by one of the ladies while the other shoppers watch. Not the best way to impress Amy (Jayma Mays), the cute salesgirl he has a crush on. But every hero has his day. On Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year (the day after Thanksgiving), a gang of skateboarding, ninja-type thieves overthrow security and take over the mall. Blart is playing free video games and unwittingly misses the whole takedown. So when several mall employees, including Amy and his daughter Maya, are taken hostage, guess who’s the only one left save the day? Blart, armed with nothing but his wits and sheer determination to do something right for a change.

See how comedian Kevin James keeps his audience laughing in other hilarious movies reviewed on this website: Hitch co-starring Will Smith and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry co-starring Adam Sandler.
